LoversCan one miss a lover one never truly had?  Never truly held?  Well… that’s not quite true, I did hold her.  I held her and never wanted to let go.  
I told her so… she smiled at the thought but I could always sense a question behind her eyes.

Do you remember when I stretched that tendon in my finger when I was nine?  Of course not; I didn't think you would.  It was my birthday you know, that day's mental pain  Mirrored by the physical present in my finger.  I told my friends the next day;  
Told them how you refused to take me to the hospital,  To a doctor even.  Told them how Daddy picked up the splint on my finger from Walgreens,  Not the emergency room.  They didn't be Irony
